About Anna

ANNA'S STORY

Anna is a New Zealand–trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who cares for people with a wide range of general gynaecological issues. She has a particular passion for helping those with pelvic pain, endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids, and has specialist training in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery.

After completing a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Anna returned home to Aotearoa and now works as a Consultant at Middlemore Hospital (Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau). She is committed to providing compassionate, women-centred care and ensuring her patients feel heard, supported and empowered to make decisions that feel right for them

TRAINING

Medical Training

Anna completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Auckland, followed by two years as a junior doctor at Whangārei Hospital in Northland.

Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology Training

She undertook RANZCOG specialist training across Middlemore, Auckland, and Tauranga Hospitals, gaining broad experience in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Advanced Laparoscopic Fellowship

Anna then completed a two-year Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery with the Gynae 1 Unit at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, specialising in minimally invasive procedures for endometriosis, fibroids, and hysterectomy.

Current Practice and further Study

She has since returned to Middlemore Hospital as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and is currently completing a Master’s in Fertility and Reproductive Medicine through the University of Sydney.

Teaching, Research and Mentorship

Anna is dedicated to teaching, education, and research, having spent a year as a Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, where she strengthened her interest in advancing clinical practice and supporting trainees.

As a RANZCOG trainee supervisor, she actively mentors and supports the next generation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialists.

WHAT IS AGES?

AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery) Fellowship training is an advanced two-year subspecialty program in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. It focuses on complex laparoscopic procedures, including severe deep infiltrating endometriosis (RANZCOG level 6 surgery), fibroids and complex hysterectomy. The program emphasises operative skill development, multidisciplinary care, and research. Anna completed her fellowship with the Gynaecology 1 Unit at The Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne Australia.

AREAS OF SPECIAL INTEREST

Anna’s special interests include advanced minimally invasive surgery for the management of pelvic pain, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, hysterectomy and fertility related surgery. She combines surgical precision with a compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.

A CAREER HIGHLIGHT

One of Anna’s most unexpected and memorable career highlights was collaborating with the Auckland Zoo veterinary team on a special surgical case involving Kera the Siamang gibbon.


The experience was later published in O&G Magazine.
